Generosity of peninsula residents will help students in Point Hope
I am always amazed at the level of generosity shown by the residents of this area. For the past eight years I have been a Bush teacher who gets to spend precious little time in Soldotna in the summers. Every summer I meet people who enrich my life with what they are willing to share with me.
This month I put a notice in the Clarion asking people for sewing donations to help my vocational class with expenses. My students are extremely talented with their hands, and they love the sewing classes. I am dreading the day when it will be cut out because it is too expensive to continue.
Thanks to the generous support of many people in the Soldotna-Kenai area, I am sending boxes of material and supplies up now. Specifically, I would like to thank the person who submitted my name to the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 10046. Because of you and the assistance shown us by the Ladies Auxiliary, Tikigaq School in Point Hope now has a very generous gift certificate to JoAnn's Fabric. Thank you so very much.
If anyone has leftover material or sheets, I would be happy to pick it up and send it to my school. We use every scrap in projects throughout the school. Without the advantage of stores in our village, we have to become very creative with our classes.
Thanks again for your generous spirit.
