ANCHORAGE (AP) An Alaska group is receiving national recognition for its work to get people immunized.
Vaccinate Alaska Coalition is the recipient of the 2003 Excellence in Immunization Award from the National Partnership for Immunization.
The group will be honored along with other state and local health programs and journalists at a luncheon at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., on Thursday.
The Alaska group is composed of private and public health providers, community service organizations and citizens seeking to protect the health of Alaskans by decreasing vaccine-preventable diseases.
The group is receiving the award in recognition of its sponsorship of the ''I Did It By Two!'' campaign, which heightens the public's awareness of the need to immunize children from birth to 2 years of age.
