Era marks 20 years of serving Kenai-Soldotna

Era Aviation is celebrating its 20th year of serving the Kenai-Soldotna market.

To mark the occasion, refreshments and cake will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday at the Era gate of the Kenai Municipal Airport.

Alaska Airlines makes wild salmon first class

Comfortably cruising six miles above Earth, Alaska Airlines passengers are enjoying elegant meals featuring Wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon. In partnership with the Alaska Seafood Marketing Institute (ASMI), Alaska Airlines is offering the salmon as one of its menu selections between the months of July and October.

Pesto Crusted Wild Alaska Sockeye Salmon with Bechamel Sauce is one of the new salmon dishes being offered to first-class passengers on many of the flights serving Alaska Airlines' newest destination cities in the east: Boston, Washington, D.C.; Newark; Orlando and Miami.

Soldotna holds business beauty contest

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring a Beautify Our Soldotna Businesses contest. Each week from July 14 through Aug. 4, the beautification committee will choose a Soldotna business to highlight.

Winning businesses will display a sign proclaiming the the "Beautiful Business of the Week." In addition, a picture of the winning landscapes will be published in the Clarion, winners will be announced at the weekly chamber luncheon, and the businesses will receive a $25 gift certificate from the Kenai River Nursery.
