Friends ask why I support Sarah Palin for governor. Here’s why:
Integrity: Palin is not a “go along to get along” politician. She will win (or lose?) on sticking to the principles of honesty, fairness and openness. Her record confirms her conviction. And, she doesn’t owe anybody anything.
Competency: Palin served on Wasilla’s city council and as two-term mayor during the city’s transition to its boom years. As mayor, she put the city on a sound financial basis. That takes a seldom-seen combination of brains, guts and people skills.
Values: Palin’s guide to good government is Alaska’s Constitution. She respects its direction on natural resources, which says “fish, wildlife and waters are reserved to the people for common use,” and managed on the sustained yield principle.
Palin stresses personal responsibility for self and family. Too often people are persuaded that governments are responsible for their health, safety and livelihood. It’s refreshing to hear a candidate cite our responsibilities for ourselves!
To me, Sarah Palin has the attributes to be an outstanding governor.
