Disc golf tourney slated

A disc golf tournament will be held Saturday at the disc golf course behind Oilers Field in Kenai to raise funds for Camp Mend A Heart, a bereavement camp for youth, sponsored by Hospice of the Central Peninsula.

The day camp is free to local children ages 6 to 12 years old and is set for Aug. 17, 18, 19. For more information regarding camp or the disc golf tournament, call 262-0453.

Carnival, spaghetti feed set

A fundraiser to help pay for medical cost for Grayson McCaughey, 14, will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. Sunday at the Lighthouse Community Church in Nikiski.

Auctions, raffles, pace painting, bounce house, pony rides, cotton candy, snow cones, 30 foot slide, paint ball and dinner are planned. The cost is $10 for adults, $5 per child and $20 per family. For more information, call 776-8759.

Challenger space center offers camps

The Challenger Learning Center of Alaska is offering Young Astronaut day camps, hands-on, interactive science camps for youth ages 6 through 9 throughout the summer. Transportation to be discussed

The Kenaitze Indian Tribe will hold community meetings to provide information and solicit input regarding transit needs for tribal members and customers and clients of tribe's programs and services who reside within the Tribe's service delivery area.

Meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Tuesday at the tribe's Family House at 120 N. Willow St., Kenai (for the communities of Kenai, Nikiski, Salamatof, Coho and Kasilof); and from 6 to 7 p.m. Tuesday in the conference room of Mykel's Restaurant in Soldotna at 35041 Kenai Spur Highway (for the communities of Soldotna, Sterling and Cooper Landing.)

Race volunteers needed

Volunteers are needed for The LeeShore Center's Kenai Peninsula Run for Women on Aug. 8.

Water table staff, lunch servers and race route safety positions are needed. Flaggers will need to take a short safety course at the Kenai Police Department a few days before the run. For more information, call 283-9479.
