Abandoned building used by homeless catches fire

JUNEAU (AP) -- Fire damaged an abandoned building used by homeless people as a shelter, fire officials said. But no one was injured in the blaze.

The fire broke out at about 10 p.m. in the Village Street building. Capt. Pete Hettinger, of Capital City Fire and Rescue, said the vacant building was used by local homeless people.

The cause of the fire remains undetermined, fire officials said.
