KNWR to be discussed at chamber meeting

Robin West of the Kenai National Wildlife Refuge will speak at the North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce today at noon at the North Kenai Baptist church.

Racing lions to compete

The Kenai Peninsula Racing Lions Moto Cross and Circle Track Division will hold a race Friday. Sign-in and practice will begin at 6 p.m. and racing will start at 7 p.m. at the Twin Cities Raceway on the Spur Highway across from Beaver Loop. Admission prices are $7 for adults, $3 for seniors and children under 12 are free. For more information, call Wendy Hudson at 260-3305.

Blood drive planned

The Blood Bank of Alaska Kenai Peninsula Center will hold a blood drive at Cottonwood Country Club in Nikiski Friday from noon to 5 p.m. For more information, call 260-5672.

KPC to hold garage sale

Kenai Peninsula College will hold a garage sale Saturday beginning at 9 a.m. All funds raised will go toward a KPC staff scholarship program to benefit students.

Community council to meet

The North Peninsula Community Council will hold its meeting Monday at 7 p.m. at the Nikiski Senior Center. For more information, call Fred Miller at 776-3257.

Extended immunization hours to be offered

The Kenai Public Health Center will offer the following extended hours for back to school immunization clinics: Aug. 9, 12 to 14, 16, 19 and 21 at 630 Barnacle Way in Kenai from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m., Aug. 20 at the same location in Kenai from 4:30 to 7 p.m. and Aug. 12, 13, 15, 20 and 22 in Soldotna at the Elks Lodge, 44560 Parkway, from 9 to 11:30 a.m. and 1:30 to 4 p.m.

Normal hours will resume Aug. 26. For more information, call the center at 335-3400.
