The 11th Annual Birch Ridge Golf Association's Grainge Memorial Senior Golf Tournament was played last Thursday and Friday. While results were printed in the Sunday Peninsula Clarion, the one item missing was the thank you to the two individuals who stepped in at the last minute to organize the event.
June Stuckey and Linda Murphy were a tremendous help and on behalf of all the participants in the tournament, thank you very much!
Larry Matson was playing with his friend Ellis on July 23 when Ellis, playing from the wild rose tees on hole No. 7, hit her tee shot to just shy of the 150-yard marker. Ellis pulled out the trusty 5 wood and hit a perfect shot which bounced three times on the green and then disappeared into the hole. Congratulations!
We went to press this week before we were able to get the Monday results. However, play continues every Monday morning and we look forward to seeing you next Monday for some more challenging games. Contact the Pro Shop to see if the morning dew has changed the 8:15 a.m. tee-off times.
While it was cool and rains were threatening, the weather did not deter the men from coming out. The winning team at 4-under was Mike Hollingsworth, Jay Kriner, and C.T. Reese. Reese had closest to the pin on No. 6 at 16 feet, 2 inches while Mike Hollingsworth aided the team on No. 8, putting his ball within 14 feet, 4 inches of the hole.
Long drive for the evening went to Dan Woitel.
Men's League continues every Wednesday night with check-in at 6 p.m.

Myrna and Jan will be in touch with Women's Birch Ridge Cup Players about the second round of play within the week.
In Men's Birch Ridge Cup, with only a week remaining in the race, the Red Division leaders are Gary Dawkins and John Lansing. The team of Al Detmer and Ray Hamby are close behind. In the Blue Division, the team of Bob and Caleb Sizemore are well in front and Phil Turkington and Dave Grove are in second.
The four top teams in each division will be in the playoffs. Playoffs may be necessary to determine those top teams. Teams need to get all their matches completed so playoffs can get under way.
