Speeding pickup crash leaves 5 hurt

Two people were medevaced to Anchorage, and three others were injured in a pickup truck crash on Swan Lake Road in Sterling early Friday morning.

Alaska State Troopers and Central Emergency Services responded to a report of the accident about 12:55 a.m. Troopers found that Dustin Leggett, 20 of Sterling, had been speeding along Swan Lake Road in a 1976 Dodge pickup when he lost control of the truck while making a left turn and crashed. Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in the accident, according to troopers.

Leggett and a 14-year-old female from Sterling were medevaced to Providence Hospital in Anchorage. The three other passengers, James Fulton, 26 of Sterling, a 15-year-old male of Wasilla and a 17-year-old male of Wasilla, also were injured in the crash.
