Volleyball camp slated

Winning With Christ Sports Camps will host a volleyball camp from 9 to 11:30 a.m. Monday at Soldotna Bible Chapel. The cost is $75. Applications are available in advance at Soldotna Bible Chapel and a half hour before the session begins the day of camp. For more information, call Rob Dimick at 262-5095.

KCHS cross country to begin

The Kenai Central High School cross country running team will begin practice at 6 p.m. Monday in the commons. All runners and parents are asked to attend a brief meeting and bring a completed physical exam form. Runners are asked to bring running attire as practice will follow the meeting.

Car wash fund-raiser set

Frontier Community Services will hold a car wash from 2 to 7 p.m. Thursday at the Red Diamond Center on Kalifornsky Beach Road. For more information, call Tammy or Kathy at 262-6331.

Baby-sitter course offered

The Boys and Girls Club in Kenai will hold a baby-sitter class Aug. 9 through 13. Class topics cover basic child care and safety, as well as ways to entertain children safely. Participants must be between the ages of 11 and 13 and current summer members of the club. Summer membership is $125 per month, per child. The class is an additional $50.

Nominating petitions available

Nominating petitions for the Oct. 5 regular city of Kenai election are available until Aug. 16 at the city clerk's office at 210 Fidalgo Ave. Seats up for election are the mayor and two council members. For more information, call Carol at 283-7535, ext. 23.

Social Security reps to visit area

Social Security Administration representatives will be on the Kenai Peninsula from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 17 at Seward City Hall; from noon to 4 p.m. Aug. 18 at Kenai City Hall; and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 19 at the Homer Senior Citizens Center. Fox Island cruise fund-raiser set

Kenai Peninsula United Way will hold a Kenai Fjords Fox Island Cruise fund-raiser at 2 p.m. Sept. 12 in Seward. The cost is $50 per person and includes the afternoon cruise to Fox Island and dinner.
