Pipeline comments sought
Officials from the Alaska departments of Natural Resources, Revenue and Law will be available to take public comments and answer questions on the proposed gas pipeline contract from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. today at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska. For more information, call 283-2918.
Agrium continues live fire training
Agrium Kenai Nitrogen Operations will continue its live fire training from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays through July and August at the plant at Mile 21 of the Kenai Spur Highway. Additional sessions will be held at 7:45 a.m. Thursdays. Occasional smoke and flames will be visible from the highway. For more information, call Rick at 776-3162.
Volunteers sought to build
Central Peninsula Habitat for Humanity is seeking volunteers for its home building construction site at 209 Cottage St. in Kenai. From the Kenai Spur Highway go three blocks south on Linwood Lane, turn right east onto Colonial Drive and go one block to Cottage Circle. The house is on the right. Car seat check ups set
Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula and Central Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold free car seat check ups at the following locations: Central Emergency Services Sterling Station from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Thursday; Kenai Fire Department from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 17; and CES Soldotna Station from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 25. Deadline for fair quilts looming
The Kenai Peninsula Quilting Guild will accept quilt entries for the Kenai Peninsula State Fair at the following locations: Sew’n Bee Cozy in Seward from 5 to 6 p.m. Aug. 10; Seams To Bee in Homer and Robin Place Fabrics in Soldotna from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 12; Cooperative Extension Services office in Soldotna from 10 a.m. to noon Aug. 14; and the Ninilchik Fairgrounds from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Aug. 14.
