Reader on Kopp: 'Now's the time to do the right thing'

In response to the allegations that have been circulating about Chuck Kopp, I felt compelled to speak out.

I have had the privilege to know Chuck for 16 years. He has been the president of our school board, a close friend of our family and an integral part of our children's lives. Chuck has always upheld exceptional standards as a devoted husband and father.

Chuck offers professionalism and constant positive energy to any cause that he is involved with. He supports humility and decency. He treats others with respect, dignity and constantly works to preserve the highest quality of life for all Alaskans. Chuck discovered his calling early in life. Service above self.

The Kenai Peninsula has become a better place to live because of people like Chuck. His standards and values continue to inspire many, and his leadership qualities are truly impressive.

I would support and encourage the city of Kenai to reappoint Chuck Kopp as the chief of police. This chain of events has been amazing to me, and as a society we need to stop catering to people around us that cry victim in the most simple of circumstances. Remember the city has done an investigation in this matter. Now it is time do the right thing.

Our society includes people with unhealthy attitudes and backgrounds. They sometimes misunderstand what is going on around them and fail to communicate their own personal boundaries and expectations.

Chuck our verybest to you and your family. We love and appreciate each one of you. Keep up your good work. We know that you will continue to strive to keep Alaska an amazing place to live and raise the next generation.
