Where: Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 212-mile oval with 9-degree banking in the turns, 660-foot short-shoots and 3,300-foot straightaways at Speedway, Ind.
When: 2 p.m. Sunday
Broadcast: Television NBC-Ch. 26; Radio Indianapolis Motor Speedway Radio Network
2000 winner: Bobby Labonte
Morris News Service's pick to win: Dale Jarrett
Others to watch: Jeff Gordon, Ricky Rudd, Tony Stewart, Rusty Wallace and Steve Park
Notes: While the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the most recognized raceway on the stock car circuit, it hardly produces good races. The flatness of the corners doesn't allow for two-wide racing, and the length of the straightaways turns the race into a series of drag races broken up by a bunch of left-handed turns. ... The race favors teams with a lot of horsepower because most of every lap is spent running down the straightaways. That's why it's no surprise that Jeff Gordon and Dale Jarrett have combined to win four of the seven races conducted at Indy.
