The Kenai Peninsula Borough Economic Development District has put out a list of 100 ways to spend your tax rebate without leaving the area. The district originally had a list of almost 300, but narrowed it down out of necessity.
Here some suggestions:
Buy new tires;
Get a pedicure, manicure and massage;
Outfit yourself with new hiking gear;
Invite all your friends to lunch;
Hire live music for your next party;
Fill your freezer on a halibut or salmon charter;
Plant some trees;
Paint your house;
Hire an area resident to do your chores;
Buy school clothes from an area retailer;
Sign your check over to an area charity;
Donate a bench in the name of a loved one;
Join a gym;
Cross country ski;
Upgrade your hunting gear;
Have a car stereo installed;
Buy a family membership to the Alaska SeaLife Center;
Buy a puppy and sign up for obedience classes;
Take a romantic weekend in Seldovia;
Get really cool shades.
