Progress Days events help center

Soldotna Senior Center's Summer Bazaar, Quilt Show, Antique Display and Endowment Trust Fund Barbecue were a huge success, and we would like to give a very special thank you to all of the donors and volunteers: Robin Place Fabrics, Spenard Builders Supply, United Rentals, Coca Cola Bottling Company, Regal Foods, Unocal, Team Tesoro, Midnight Sun Riders, North Star Dance Studio, KSRM, KWJG, Peninsula Clarion, Jean Everson, Eileen Edler, Alaska Junior Miss Participants, and the many, many volunteers and staff that put so many hours into the event.

A big thanks to the float committee for the great job on the float and winning the grand prize. Again, thank you all, we truly appreciate it.

Proceeds from the bazaar fund-raiser are earmarked for the center's future vehicle shelter, and the endowment trust fund proceeds are for the maintenance and upkeep of the center.

Kids' games prove to be fun for all

The Children's Spectacular was a lot of fun, for both the over 100 children who participated and the organizers! The free games included an egg and spoon race, a potato race, a bean bag toss, yardstick golf, a gunny sack race and clothespins in bottles, ending with diving into a pile of sawdust looking for coins.

Bridges Community Resource Network gratefully thanks the sponsors who made it possible: Soldotna Chamber of Commerce for letting us borrow their tent on Saturday, Spenard Builders Supply for the yardsticks, Dairy Queen for the cone coins and Wells Fargo Bank of Soldotna for the Sacajawea dollars for the sawdust pit, Jane and Dave Stein, Jim and Betty Harris, Dan and Kathy Gensel, and Katie Epps, Paul and Joan Epps for the change from their piggy banks.

Bridges would also like to thank those volunteers whose contribution of time, ideas and cheerful guidance resulted in such a great event: Jane Stein, Sherry Spence, Betty Harris, Joyce Cox, Paul Epps, Joan Crow-Epps and Katie Epps.

We'll see you again next year!
