JUNEAU (AP) -- A Juneau woman was killed on Wednesday after she lost control of her motorcycle and struck a guardrail.
Erica Swiatkowski, 19, was traveling on Egan Drive at about 2 p.m. when witnesses said her motorcycle appeared to swerve to the right and leave the roadway, police said.
Swiatkowski was thrown from the motorcycle and died of massive chest trauma, said police Lt. Walt Boman. Swiatkowski was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.
Neither alcohol nor excessive speed are suspected to have caused the crash, police said. But a toxicology report will be performed by the state Medical Examiner's office.
