Christine V. Wetzig died Monday, July 29, 2002, at the Lebanon Community Hospital in Lebanon, Ore. She was 83.
Memorial services are at 11 a.m. today in the Sweet Home Mennonite Church in Sweet Home, Ore., with Pastor Pete Kauffman officiating.
Mrs. Wetzig was born Nov. 12, 1918, in Orlando, Fla., the daughter of Christian John and Dora Verona Gemeinhardt. She graduated from Orlando High School. She married Paul A. Wetzig on Feb. 15, 1976, in Orlando, Fla. She moved to Sweet Home, Ore., in 1976.
She was very involved in the community of Sweet Home. Among other things, she worked with the Sweet Home Garden Club, Jolly Stitchers, Holley Grange and Sweet Home Rock and Mineral Club. She was a past member of the Holley Christian Church and member of the Sweet Home Mennonite Church. She enjoyed quilting, rock hounding, gardening, flowers, traveling -- recently to Alaska and Florida to visit family -- and square dancing.
She is survived by her son, Don Waldrop, of Kenai; grandchildren Rebecca Waldrop of Corvallis, Ore., Brent Waldrop of Salt Lake City, Utah; and Brian Waldrop of Oceanside, Calif.; a great-granddaughter, Annie, and daughter-in-law, Harriet Wagner of Corvallis, Ore. Also surviving are sisters Gladys Crawford and Pearl Taylor, both of Orlando, Fla., and a brother Leonard Gemeinhardt of Orlando, along with three nephews and five nieces. She was preceded in death, in 2000, by a brother, Alfred Gemeinhardt.
Memorials are suggested to the Sweet Home Mennonite Church.
