Fanning graduates college

Kenai resident Kristofor (Chip) Fanning recently graduated from Southern Oregon University with a master's degree in teaching.

Fanning plans to return to Alaska to attend classes at the University of Alaska Anchorage for a year. His future goal is to become a physician's assistant.

He is the son of Shelly and Ken Peterson.

Area student makes dean's list

Sterling resident Desirae D. Dix recently was named to the dean's list at Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, Wash. To be named to the list, a student must have a 3.5 grade point average.

Wendt graduates college

Kenai resident Julie Wendt recently graduated from Fort Lewis College in Durango, Colo. Wendt majored in environmental biology.

She is a graduate of Kenai Central High School.

Davis joins Air Force


Alan R. Davis

Air Force Airman 1st Class Alan R. Davis recently graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio.

During the six weeks of training, he studied the Air Force mission, organization and military customs and courtesies; performed drill and ceremony marches; and received instruction in physical training, rifle marksmanship, field exercises and human relations.

In addition, he earned earn credits toward an associate degree through the Community College of the Air Force.

He is the son of Dana Megchelsen of Nikiski.

Prior to joining the service Davis received an associate degree from ITT Technical Institute in Austin, Texas.
