Sponsors shore up support for restoration

Posted: Tuesday, August 02, 2005

In the sprit of collaborative support, "we" with the Youth Restoration Corps would like to thank the following contributors who became our partners in an effort to support YRC's promotion of stewardship as we continue our restoration program here in Southcentral Alaska and begin the world class Resurrection Creek restoration project.

The Youth Restoration Corps 2005 program restored 2,350 lineal feet of fish and wildlife habitat on Cooper Creek, the Kenai and Russian rivers, Resurrection Creek and Freestone Pond.

This year's YRC sponsors are ConocoPhillips, Chugach National Forest, Fish America Foundation-America Sportfishing Association, the National Fish Wildlife Foundation Five Star Program, Coastal America, NC Machinery, North America Green, Earth Savers Inc., Bannerman Foundation, United Cook Inlet Drift Association, Unocal Alaska, Unocal California, Willamette National Forest, Anchorage Sand and Gravel, Kenai Peninsula Borough, Alaska Conservation Foundation, Spenard Builders Supply, Alaska Industrial Hardware, Magic Metals, Harvest Time Charters, First National Bank Alaska, Altria Group and Costco.

We also want to thank those who gave letters of support: U.S. Sen. Lisa Murkow-ski, Congressman Don Young, Gov. Frank Murkowski, Rep. Ethan Berkowitz, Rep. Mike Hawker, Rep. Les Gara, first lady Laura Bush, Alaska's first lady Nancy Murkowski and the United Cook Inlet Drift Association.

It is through this type of support and contributions that Youth Restoration Corps can humbly state that over the last nine years we have restored more than four miles of fish and wildlife habitat in Southcentral Alaska, while being bestowed the honor of being one of the most successful restoration programs in America today that involves youth and benefiting all user groups equally through the support of our partners.

Elvira Wolf, Director, Youth Restoration Corps
