Nutrition classes held at food bank

Subsistence Eating on the Kenai nutrition classes are being offered for free from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesdays, for eight weeks at Kenai Peninsula Food Bank, 33955 Community College Drive in Soldotna.

Participants who attend four classes may enter to win a prize. Colleen Sonnevil of the Cooperative Extension Services will instruct the class. For more information, call 262-3111.

Safe Sitter courses offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold a Safe Sitter course from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Thursday and Friday at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and must preregister. The cost is $50 per student and includes materials. For more information, call Michelle McKay at 714-4775.

Community run organizer sought

The Kenai Peninsula State Fair is seeking a coordinator for its River to River Run planned for Aug. 20. For more information or to volunteer in coordinating or assisting with the event, call 567-3670.

Skyview swim team set to plunge

Skyview High School’s swimming and diving team will meet from 2:50 to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the school. Athletes are reminded to bring a current physical or have a copy on file.

Senior center to celebrate anniversary

The Soldotna Senior Citizens Center will celebrate its 20th anniversary at 1 p.m. Aug. 12 at the center at 197 W. Park Avenue. Guest speakers, refreshments and a rededication ceremony are some of the planned events.
