Copper Center teen killed in vehicle accident

Posted: Thursday, August 03, 2000

COPPER CENTER (AP) -- A Copper Center teen was killed early Thursday in a vehicle rollover accident, Alaska State Troopers said.

Kara Joe, 17, was driving her 1999 Ford Explorer when she apparently lost control of the vehicle and it overturned.

Joe was partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained major head trauma, troopers said. She was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical technicians. Four other people in the vehicle sustained minor injuries.

Investigators said alcohol and speeding were believed to be factors in the accident.

Joe's body was being sent to Anchorage for autopsy. The investigation is continuing.
