Eagle River man dies in motorcycle accident

ANCHORAGE (AP) -- An Eagle River man was killed when his motorcycle slammed into the side of a pickup truck, Anchorage police said.
Police say James Smith, 39, was pronounced dead at Alaska Regional Hospital Tuesday night.
Witnesses told police that Smith was driving at a high rate of speed when he hit the truck, which was turning off Eagle River Loop Road. Police said Smith suffered massive head injuries even though he was wearing a helmet.
Police said their investigation is continuing.
