Kenai Library Commission meeting placed moved

The Kenai Library Commission meetings will be held in the council chambers at Kenai City Hall at 7 p.m. Library meetings are held on the first Tuesday of every other month.

WRCC to hold week long fund-raiser

The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold "WRCC Week." Several events have been planned to highlight the week, including a radiothon fund-raiser broadcast over KSRM Wednesday through Saturday and an open house at the Transitional Living Center from 2 to 5 p.m. Friday with a dedication of the new children's activity-educational room at 2:15 p.m. The public is invited to attend. The 16th annual Run for Women also will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday. For more information, call 283-9479.

Final Safe Sitter course of summer slated

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold the last Safe Sitter course of the summer from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12 at the hospital. Participants must be at least age 11 at the time of class. A $50 fee includes all class material. Preregistration is required.

Power wheelchairs available

The Senior Wheels USA Program makes available power wheelchairs to senior citizens age 65 and older, as well as qualifying individuals who are permanently disabled. The wheelchairs are designed for those who cannot walk and cannot self-propel a manual wheelchair and who meet the additional guidelines of the program.

Residents sought for CPHC board

Central Peninsula Health Centers Inc. is looking for interested community members to apply for a seat on the board of directors. At least 51 percent of board members must be consumers or have family members who are consumers of CPHC services. CPHC is a nonprofit organization with a mission to provide quality health care regardless of the ability to pay.

Congressional mobile office tour planned

The Alaska Congressional Delegation's annual mobile tour is scheduled to visit the Kenai Peninsula Aug. 13 and 14. It will be in Seward from 3 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13, Cooper Landing from 9 to 11 a.m. Aug. 14 and Homer from 2:30 to 5 p.m. Aug. 14. The mobile office van will park in the U.S. Post Office parking lots unless otherwise noted.

United Way plans cruise fund-raiser

The Kenai Peninsula United Way will hold a kick off fund-raiser Aug. 24 in Seward. The Kenai Fjords Fox Island cruise will include dinner and the play, "Into Alaska a Woman Came." Live music and outcry and bucket auctions also are planned. Tickets are $50.
