Safe Sitter courses offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold a Safe Sitter course from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. today and Friday at the hospital. Children must be 11 years old at the time of class and must preregister. School district plans Title Vll talk

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District will hold a Title Vll Indian Education Parent Advisory Committee meeting from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. today at the Borough Building in Conference Room A. It is open to the public. For more information or to R.S.V.P., call 714-8892, ext. 8866.

Car seat check ups set

Safe Kids Kenai Peninsula and Central Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold free car seat check ups at the following locations: Sterling Fire Department from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. today; Kenai Fire Department from 1 to 4 p.m. Aug. 17; and Soldotna Fire Department from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Aug. 25. Garage sale fundraiser set

The Soldotna Ladies AmVets Post No. 4 will hold a garage sale fundraiser from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday and Saturday across from the Kenai River Nursery.

VBS set for Sterling

Sterling Lutheran Church will hold vacation Bible school from 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Monday through Aug. 11 at the church across the street from the Sterling Elementary School playground. Volunteers needed for run

The LeeShore Center is seeking volunteers to help with its 19th annual Kenai Peninsula Run for Women at 10 a.m. Aug. 12. Volunteers are needed to staff water tables, serve lunch and be flaggers. Flaggers will take a short safety course at the Kenai Police Department a few days before the run. The race starts at 10 a.m. Warm-up begins at 9:30 a.m. For more information, call 283-9479.

Beautiful yard nominations sought

The Soldotna Chamber of Commerce is seeking nominations for its beautification awards program for residential and businesses property. The program will run through Aug. 31. Winners will be announced at weekly chamber luncheons, receive a $25 gift certificate and a picture of the winning landscape will be published in the Peninsula Clarion.
