Thunderstorms delay Oilers’ NBC opener

Thunderstorms in the Wichita, Kan., area caused several rain delays at the National Baseball Congress World Series Wednesday, delaying the start of the Peninsula Oilers’ first game of the tournament against the Prescott, Ill., Panthers.

The game had not yet started as the Clarion went to press Wednesday night, but tournament organizers planned to get the game in, meaning the Oilers would be playing into the wee hours this morning.
