Russian River Ferry re-opened Sunday
The Russian River Ferry re-opened Sunday, according to Alaska Recreation Management. The ferry was temporarily closed on Friday due to high, fast water and strong currents which made operation of the ferry unsafe.

Heaven breaks state record in 100 fly
Winter Heaven, a 15-year-old who attends Soldotna High School, set a new state record in the 15- to 16-year-old, 100-meter butterfly with a time of 57.13 seconds. Heaven was swimming at the Long Course Sectional Competition in Mt. Hood, Ore. Heaven broke Cody Brunette's year-old record in the Bonus Final heat. He placed 26th. He also qualified to USA Swimming's Junior Nationals.
