Funny River Festival continues today

The Funny River Festival continues today beginning with a church service at 9 a.m. It will be followed by a pancake breakfast, auction and quilt raffle, pioneer picnic, salmon bake-off and more activities.

All proceeds benefit the Funny River Community Center.

Co-ed basketball registration slated

The Boys and Girls Club will hold co-ed basketball registration for kids in first- and second grade Monday through Friday from noon to 6 p.m. at the Kenai club. Practice will begin the week of Sept. 9. Games will begin Sept. 24 and run through Oct. 27.

Town meeting to be held

Rep. Drew Scalzi, R-Homer, and Deputy Commissioner Larry Persily of the Alaska Department of Revenue will speak at Land's End Resort in Homer Thursday. Following presentations on government funding and pending financial planning bills, members of the public will be able to share their ideas and goals for the state's financial future.

Campaign dinner cruise planned

The United Way will kick off its annual fund-raising campaign with a Kenai Fjords Tours Fox Island dinner cruise Aug. 18. Departure time is 5:30 p.m.

A silent and outcry auction, entertainment by Glacier Country and dinner on Fox Island is included. Tickets are $50. All proceeds benefit the United Way.
