Meeting the band

Miranda Lynn Zindel of Kenai, named Miss Alaska in the America's National Teen-ager Scholarship Program, poses with The Clark Family Experience, an up-and-coming country-western band.

Zindel won a trip to Opryland as part of her prize for winning the state title in the scholarship program. During her trip, she had the opportunity to meet The Clark Family Experience, who have been recognized by the Country Music Association and whose hit song, "Meanwhile Back at the Ranch," was the 13th best selling country single in 2001.

Their first albums were produced by country music star Tim McGraw. Zindel went on to compete in the National Teen-ager Scholarship Program finals last month in Opryland, vying for $20,000 in cash scholarships and prizes. This is the 31st annual scholarship program.
