Multiple sclerosis group to meet

Soroptimists plan golf tourney
The Soroptimist International of the Kenai Peninsula will hold its annual chip away golf tournament at 8 a.m. Aug. 14 at Birch Ridge Golf Course in Soldotna. All proceeds will benefit women with financial needs on the peninsula with cancer. The fund will be administered by Central Peninsula General Hospital. WRCC to host annual run
The Women's Resource and Crisis Center will hold its 17th annual Kenai Peninsula 5- and 10-kilometer Run For Women at 10 a.m. Aug. 14 in Kenai. Registration deadlines are Friday for mail-ins, Aug. 13 in person and at 9 a.m. the day of race. The cost is $15 or $20 on race day.
Preregistered racers can pick up their bib, T-shirt and promotional items from 1 to 5 p.m. Aug. 13 at the lower level of the Seaman Building entrance at 601 Frontage Road in Kenai.
WRCC is seeking volunteers to help with water tables and directing traffic for the race. For more information or to volunteer, call 283-9479.
Flag football slated
North Peninsula Recreation Service Area is taking registration for its flag football program for boys and girls in grades four through eight. Registration is available at the Nikiski pool from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. through Aug. 18. The cost is $25 per participant and is due at time of registration.
The season will run from the end of August through September. Nikiski teams will compete with the Boys and Girls Club of Kenai. For more information, call Rachel at 776-8800.
Donor appreciation day scheduled
The Blood Bank of Alaska will host a donor appreciation barbecue from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sept. 10 at Kenai Peninsula College. Community members are encouraged to attend and meet new staff members.
