Kenai resident Elizabeth "Betty" Ann McCurdy died Wednesday, Aug. 1, 2007, from a terminal illness at her home in Kenai. She was 51.
A celebration of her life and a potluck will be held from 2 to 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 7, at the McCurdy residence, 1209 Lilac Lane Apt. No. 3 in Kenai. Her ashes will be scattered with her late husband, Clyde McCurdy, in Alaska and California.
Mrs. McCurdy was born Jan. 29, 1956, in Napa, Calif., where she was raised. She moved to Kenai in 1992 and furthered her education by receiving a high school diploma at Kenai Central High School in 1996.
"She believed in Jesus Christ and had accepted him as her savior. She enjoyed walking on the beach, collecting agates and spending time with family and pets," her family wrote.
"My mom was very special to me now she is safe and healthy from sickness and evil," wrote her daughter, Kelsey.
"Betty was a loving outgoing mother who loved her children and she is going to be missed very much," wrote her son, Dillon.
"I love you Mom and know you are with dad and Bettyjo. 'I'm keeping my eyes on Jesus' Rev. 21 and 22," wrote her son, Danny.
"I love you Grandma. I will always remember our time we had together," wrote her granddaughter, Kathleen.
"I love you Mom and I will always remember your smile and loving ways. It was an honor to be your daughter, love always and forever," wrote her daughter, Sunny.
"Mom, Casey and I love you. You were the best grandma ever," wrote her daughter, Charlene.
Mrs. McCurdy was preceded in death by her husband; mother, Kathleen Kilgore; and daughter, Bettyjo McCurdy.
She is survived by her sons, Stephen Glenn of California, Jeremy Pendergrass of Napa, Calif., and Danny McCurdy and Dillon McCurdy of Kenai; daughters, Sunny McCurdy and her former husband, Loren Smith, of Kenai, and Charlene and Kelsey McCurdy of Kenai; granddaughter, Kathleen Smith of Kenai; and grandson, Casey John McCurdy of Kenai.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the McCurdy family, 1209 Lilac Lane Apt.3, Kenai, AK 99611.
Arrangements were made by Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
