Area graduates make deans lists
Elisabeth Schirmers of Soldotna was named to the dean's list with honors for the spring semester at Lee University in Cleveland, Tenn. She was among 849 Lee students named to the dean's list for this semester. Students achieving a GPA greater than 3.7 were placed on the list. She is a junior and had a GPA of 3.78.
She is the daughter of Bruce and Linda Schirmers of Soldotna.
Kelly Mason a 1998 graduate of Kenai Central High School was named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash. for the spring quarter 2001.
Rachel Ross a 1996 Kenai Central High School graduate was named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., for the spring quarter.
Lauren Radcliffe a 1997 graduate of Homer High School was named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., for the spring quarter.
Amanda Dehlbom a 1998 Skyview High School graduate was named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., for the spring quarter.
Cassie Smith a 2000 Soldotna High School graduate was named to the dean's list at Eastern Washington University in Cheney, Wash., for the spring quarter.
Students who are named to the list must carry at least 12 credits and achieve a 3.5 GPA.
Kenai woman competes

Marine Corps 2nd Lt. Molly J. Salness of Kenai won the individual women's championship title in the Naval Pentathlon in Tuzla-Istanbul, Turkey.
The nine-day sporting competition drew participants from several countries, including Argentina, Croatia, Germany and South Africa. The pentathlon included obstacle, life-saving, seamanship, utility swim and amphibious cross country races.
The objective of the pentathlon is to promote international friendships through sports. The U.S. men's and women's team collectively placed fourth overall.
Salness is the daughter of Ty and Kristina Salness in Kenai.
