Lifelong Alaskan Rodney A. French died Saturday, Aug. 2, 2008, of natural causes after a lengthy illness at his home in Nikiski. He was 64.
A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9, at the Kenai United Pentecostal Church at Mile 16.5 of the Kenai Spur Highway. Rev. Stuart Churchill will officiate. A gathering will immediately follow the services at the church.

"I'll give you the rope, you decide if you are going to hang yourself with it or not. If that noose gets too tight. Let your old man know and I'll help you loosen it. You're still not too big for a hug," the family said.
Mr. French was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Louise French.
He is survived by his former spouse, Pam French of Kenai; son, Rodney French, and his wife, Sylvie, of Nikiski; daughter, Sharla French, of Nikiski; grandchildren, Brianna Willis, Rodney, Rebecca and Ethan French and Lauren and Lucas Foley; sisters, Ramona Ragains, Carmena Capp and Audrey Glandon; and many nieces and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggest memorial contributions be made to the family C/O Sharla Willis, P.O. Box 8202, Nikiski, AK 99635.
