Kids welcome to gather

Every first and third Sunday of every month, seventh- through 12th-graders are invited to hang out at the Peninsula Grace Brethren Church youth center from 6 to 8 p.m. to showcase their talent from singing to beatboxing and poetry, or simply to hang out and enjoy a beverage from its coffee shop. Study, fellowship, worship set

Saint Luke Lutheran Church offers several faith strengthening opportunities during the week. The parish's Wednesday 10:30 a.m. fellowship/study is focusing on Leviticus. We attempt to cover one chapter a session and meet at 48095 Andrews Avenue for approximately one hour.

Our Wednesday evening activities take place at the Parish Hall, 43055 Kenai Spur Highway, and consist of a potluck fellowship, Vespers Service and detailed analysis of basic Christian doctrine, currently focusing on the Holy Spirit's work in directing the Christian life.

The fellowship/potluck begins at 5:30 p.m., followed by Vespers at 6:30 p.m. and study from 7 to 8 p.m. Visit or call 283-5455 for more information.

Bible study live or online

A King James Bible study group meets at 7 p.m. on Thursdays on East Echo Lake Road in Soldotna and also offers "live" teachings on Skype video. For more information, call 262-3507 or e-mail

Saturday Bible study on tap

The Nikiski Nazarene Church will hold a Bible study on Esther at 9:30 a.m. Saturdays at the church at Mile 18 of the Kenai Spur Highway. It is open to all women.

Clothes Quarters open

The Clothes Quarters located at Our Lady of the Angels at 225 South Spruce Street in Kenai is open from 11 a.m. until 4 p.m. Wednesdays and from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. the first Saturday of each month. For more information, call 283-9371 or 283-4555.

Recovery program offered

The Lighthouse Community Church will hold Recovery Now, a scripturally based recovery program, at 7 p.m. Fridays. The program is for anyone who is or has dealt with addiction. For more information, call 252-6445.

Thrift store open

The Lighthouse Community Church thrift store, The Sandbox, is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays. The store is in the office building next to the church in Nikiski.

Clothes ministry ongoing

The Clothes 4 U Ministry offers free clothing to benefit the community.

The ministry is open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays at First Baptist Church Soldotna Mission House at 119 Little Ave. in Soldotna. For more information, call 260-4806.

Soldotna Woman's Aglow plans events

Soldotna Woman's Aglow on will hold these events on Wednesdays at the Peninsula Christian Center.

* Study of Esther by Beth Moore is held at 10 a.m., Fellowship begins at 9 a.m. Childcare provided and all faiths are welcome.

* From 10 to noon there will be a new video series.

Kairos program offered

There is a new program in Alaska called Kairos Outside, a no-cost retreat for women who now have or have had relatives and friends incarcerated in State and Federal facilities or who have been incarcerated themselves. A Kairos Outside weekend is planned for September 10-12 at a retreat center in Soldotna. For more information, please contact Karolann at 907-262-4958.

Women invited to gather

EnLa Gloria Ministries invites women seeking God to a Ladies Night Out. It meets at 6:30 p.m. Mondays at 818 Cook Avenue in Old Towne Kenai across from the Oiler's Bingo Hall.

The Church of Christ Nikiski Bible School

The Church of Christ in Nikiski at Mile 25.5 will host VBS Aug. 9-11 from 5 to 6 p.m. There will be a meal, and from 6-8 p.m. will be singing, classes, crafts and activities. Theme: Jesus' parables VBS for all ages. Call Cy Cox 776-7660 or 776-3370.

Youth revivals planned

Kalifonsky Christian Center will host a free "No Holding Back His Presence Youth Revivals" from Aug. 8-13 at the center at Mile 17 K-Beach Road.

Featured speakers will be Ruben Reyes, Isaia Faumui and Arun Michael. The worship leaders will be Shelby Smith and Adam Nath. Event times are 10:30 a.m. and 7 p.m.

North Kenai Chapel

The North Kenai Chapel will host talks by the CEO of Bridges for Peace, an organization that helps Jewish people returning to Israel, Rebecca Brimmer on Sunday August 8th at the 10:30 service. The chapel is located at mile 29 of the Kenai Spur Highway.
