Van hits two boys riding single bicycle in Juneau

JUNEAU - Two 12-year-old boys were hospitalized with numerous injuries after the bicycle they were riding was struck by a van in Juneau.

The boys were riding the bike Wednesday afternoon when the accident occurred near Glacier Highway and Berners Avenue.

Police said the boys were treated at the scene and transported to Bartlett Regional Hospital.

Neither boy was wearing a helmet, police said. Injuries included a fractured arm, broken ribs, scrapes and contusions. The accident is still under investigation.

The driver of the van, a 62-year-old man, was not injured.
