Golf tourney fund-raiser planned
Isom's Cafe, in conjunction with Bird Homestead Golf Course, will sponsor a nine-hole golf tournament to benefit the Kenai Peninsula Food Bank at 1 p.m. today. There will be a shotgun start. KCHS swim, diving set to begin
Kenai Central High School swimming and diving practice will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday. Athletes will need a sports physical to participate. For more information, call 283-7476.
Swim clinic planned
A freestyle flip-turn clinic will be held from 1 to 3 p.m. Monday though Aug. 10 at the Skyview High School pool. Joanne Wainwright will instruct. Drills will focus on streamlining, breakouts, underwater swimming using undulation and the freestyle flip-turn. The clinic is open to children ages 11 and over (USA, high school and masters). Flag football registration set
The North Peninsula Recreation Service Area will begin registration for flag football from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Aug. 17 at the Nikiski pool. Children in grades four through eight are eligible to participate. Coaches also are needed. For more information, call Rachel at 776-8800.
Montessori presentation slated
There will be a free presentation about Montessori education at 7 p.m. Aug. 18 at the Challenger Learning Center of Alaska in Kenai. Tim Seldin, president of the International Montessori Foundation and author, will be the featured speaker. His topic will be the importance of quality early childhood education.
