Reader finds Thomas comments open-minded

The editorial on the July 5 opinion page by your political pundit "poster child," Cal Thomas, was one of the very few fair-minded opinions of his I've ever read.
His quote of Herman Goering was "food for thought." Also of G.K. Chesterson, "my country, right or wrong." He says it's like "my mother, drunk or sober." Well, that's OK. However, if my mother, heaven forbid, was George Bush, his cronies and weapons and war industrial lobbyists, I believe I would disown her.
