Twins Junior Varsity moves to title game

The Post 20 Twins Junior Varsity moved to the championship game at the Alaska State American Legion Tournament Monday.

Post 20 earned the honor of playing Service in today's championship game with a 5-0 win over Chugiak Monday. The championship game will be at 3:30 p.m. today at Kosinski Fields in Anchorage. The Twins must beat undefeated Service twice to take the title.

"They're playing very well right now," Twins manager Lance Coz said of his team. "We should give it a good shot."

Justin Payment picked up the win for Post 20, going six shutout innings and allowing just two hits and a walk.

Payment limited out on his innings after the sixth, but Norton Dablemont pitched a scoreless seventh inning to keep the shutout intact.

On offense, the Twins got all the runs they would need in the second inning when Cory Janson cracked a double that scored three runs.

Post 20 scored four runs in the second inning and one in the fifth. Kenneth Butler also had a good day at the plate for the Twins, going 2-for-3 with a double.
