FAIRBANKS (AP) -- The Fairbanks school board has approved a one-year contract for schools Superintendent Jim Holt.
Holt, who took over running the district in late 1999 after the resignation of then-Superintendent Stewart Weinberg, will receive a $15,000 pay raise to bring his salary to $125,000 a year.
The other terms of the contract remain the same, including an annual expense allowance of $6,000, up to $300,000 in life insurance, health insurance and six weeks of vacation leave each year.
The contract was passed by the board on Tuesday and is retroactive to July 1st.
Schmidt said Holt requested the one-year contract.
''He feels it provides him flexibility,'' she said.
