Mushroom workshop postponed

The mushroom workshop planned for Saturday has been postponed until Aug. 31. Spend the day with Dominique Collet collecting mushrooms at various locations and then identifying them at River City Books. Bring a cardboard box with a flat bottom for collecting. EDD to be discussed at chamber

The North Peninsula Chamber of Commerce will meet at noon today at the North Baptist Church. Jack Brown of the Community Economic Development District will be the guest speaker.

MS support group to hold meeting

The National Multiple Sclerosis Alaska Division of Kenai and Soldotna will hold its monthly self-help meeting today from noon to 2 p.m. in the Kenai Peninsula Borough building conference room B. For more information, call Barb Johnson at 262-8395.

CPGH to hold special board meeting

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold a special board meeting today at 4:30 p.m. in the Iliamna room at the hospital. For more information, call Bonnie Nichols at 262-8129.

Fish fry to be held

The Sterling Masonic Lodge No. 22 will hold a dinner with deep-fried halibut, potato salad, scalloped potatoes, french fries and coleslaw at the Sterling Senior Citizens Center Saturday from 4 to 7 p.m. There is a fee of $8 for adults and $6 for seniors and children age 12 and younger.

Internet class scheduled

There will be a free beginning Internet class at the Kenai Community Library Monday from 6:30 to 8 p.m. For more information or to register, call 283-4378.

Final Safe Sitter class offered

Central Peninsula General Hospital will hold its last Safe Sitter class of the year Monday and Tuesday. The course is for boys and girls ages 11 to 13. There is a $50 fee for course materials. For more information or to register, call Michelle at 262-8127.

SSA representatives to visit peninsula

Representatives from the Social Security Administration will be in Seward Tuesday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the city council chambers and in Kenai Wednesday from noon at 4 p.m. at city hall.

Boyd Shaffer Nature Trail to be dedicated

There will be a dedication ceremony for the Boyd Shaffer Nature Trail Aug. 17 at 10:30 a.m. at Kenai Peninsula College. The trail that begins at KPC and continues by Slikok Creek is being named in honor of Shaffer. He has used this trail for almost three decades to teach numerous classes, including plant identification and survival skills. For more information call, Linda Tannehill at 262-5824.
