Ted Hughes

Longtime Kenai resident Ted R. Hughes, 66, died Tuesday, Aug. 3, 2010 at his home in Kenai.

Memorial services will be 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, at Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai. Military honors will be provided by the V.F.W. Post #10046 and American Legion Post 20.

Mr. Hughes was born June 6, 1944 in Montana. He served U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He moved to Alaska in January 1976 and worked as a machinist at the Beluga Power Plant and retired after over 20 years.

He enjoyed hunting, fishing and gardening.

Mr. Hughes was preceded in death by his father, Richard B. Hughes and a brother Larry Hughes.

He is survived by his mother, Marian Long of Soldotna; a sister, Linda Hughes of 29 Palms, Calif. and a niece, Ellisa Mitchell of Gallup, New Mexico.

Arrangements were by Peninsula Memorial Chapel in Kenai.
