Summer helpers earn good words from library

Posted: Thursday, August 10, 2006

We’d like to thank all the children, teens, parents and volunteers who helped made the Soldotna Public Library’s summer reading program a great success this year. Thank you Phil and Gail Hoekman for the loan of a dog sled, and the mini dog sled and team that were used to decorate the library; Betty Phelps for the loan of the hamster cage; and program volunteers Amy Baxter, Patty Mullins, Sue Williams and Jenni Larsen. We’d also like to thank the many parents who donated cookies, door prizes and support.

Thank you to Richard Hahn, library board chairman for organizing the Friends of the Library float that was in the Soldotna Progress Days parade; Fred Meyer’s generous candy donation and the loan of Fred Bear; Einar Larson from Sterling for the use of the float trailer; Mike Larson for float building materials; Connie and Jay Goltz for construction and decorating skills; Teresa Fahning for the tri-fold brochures; Marti Wilkison for her skillful driving; Kitty Galley for the used book sale coupons; and the parade distributors who passed out the brochures, used book sale coupons and candy: Loretta Flanders, Mary Beth Johnstone, Jane and Madeline Fuerstenau, Marge and Hugh Hays, Billie Loehr and Sara, Anna, Boomer and Olivia Loehr.

Many thanks to the volunteers who helped to organize and run the Soldotna Progress Days used book sale: Pat Burdick, Mary McCown, Katie Troeger and Maxine Holifield.
