Facts about the KPB school district

Posted: Friday, August 11, 2000

The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District covers 25,600 square miles and is the fourth largest district in the state.

There are 40 schools in 21 different communities within the district.

This year's projected enrollment is expected to be about 10,000 students.

Four villages served by the district have no road access. Tyonek, Seldovia, Port Graham and Nanwalek can only be reached by plane or boat.

Other sites, such as Kachemak Selo, Voznesenka and Razdolna, are accessible only by four-wheel drive vehicles or snowmachine during part of the year.
