In case of an emergency ...

Emergency Information

At the beginning of each school year, your child will bring home an Emergency Information Form for you to complete.

Please fill out and return the form promptly, updating the health information and giving addresses and telephone numbers where you can be reached in the event of your child's illness or injury at school.

Reliable alternate phone numbers also are needed in case you cannot be reached.

Please notify your child's school if you have a change of address or phone number at work or at home.

Critical Incident Plans

The safety and well-being of all students in our educational system is a top priority of the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District. Planning is necessary to effectively deal with an emergency or other crisis situation. A structured plan acknowledges this, allows for control over an emergency or crisis situation and minimizes the impact of the emergency.

The district has developed a critical incident plan for response to emergency situations. Copies of the district plan are available for public review at each school's office, at the district central office and on the district Web site.

Snow Days

On days when excessive snow or other natural occurrences happen, there is a chance that school may start late, dismiss early or be closed completely.

Area radio stations cooperate with the district in announcing school closures or changes in starting and dismissal times due to poor weather conditions, power failures, or other situations that pose threats to students' safety and well-being.

School days lost because of weather closures must be made up.
