Lifelong Soldotna resident Nicholas James Merriett Allen died Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, in Soldotna from injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident. He was 17.
Funeral services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at the Peninsula Christian Center in Soldotna with Pastor Jim Duncan officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Peninsula Memorial Chapel.
Nick was born April 5, 1985, in Soldotna. He was a student at Soldotna High School and would have been a senior this year.
He worked for Big Kmart during the summer of 2001 and was currently working at Pizza Boys.
He attended Peninsula Christian Center.
He enjoyed being with his friends, building computers, working on stereo equipment and listening to music.
"You were a wonderful son and brother. Our pain is great but we know you are happy and pain-free with the Lord. You were our Alaska surprise. We will always love and remember you. Thanks for always making us smile and laugh. See you in heaven, dear Nicholas," his family said.
He is survived by his parents, James and Judy Allen; sisters and brother-in-law, Stacy Olson and Meridith and Chris Pankratz; niece and nephew, Ashlynn and Anton Olson; great-grandmother, Arminta Blackwell; aunt and uncle, Jan and Steve Wright, all of Soldotna; brother-in-law, John Olson of Anchorage; paternal grandmother, Ruth Allen of Skidmore, Mo.; maternal grandparents, Byron and Betty Osthoff of Shambaugh, Iowa; and many aunts, uncles and cousins in the Lower 48 states.
