Ava's Poppy-Seed Bread

1 pound ground beef

1/2 pound uncooked bacon

1 onion, chopped

1/4 cup packed brown sugar

1/4 cup granulated sugar

1/4 cup ketchup

1/4 cup barbecue sauce

1 tablespoon prepared mustard

2 tablespoons molasses

1/2 to 1 teaspoon chili powder

1 teaspoon salt

1/2 teaspoon freshly ground pepper

1/4 teaspoon garlic powder

1 (15-ounce) can kidney beans, drained and rinsed

1 (15.5 ounce) can butter beans, drained and rinsed

1 (15-ounce) pork and beans

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In a 4-quart Dutch oven, cook the ground beef until browned; drain and set aside. In the same pan, cook the bacon until crisp; drain and set aside. Using what remains of the bacon drippings in the pan, cook the onion until tender and drain. Return the ground beef, bacon, and onion to the Dutch oven and add the remaining ingredients. Bake, uncovered, for 45 minutes, or until heated through.

Makes 6 to 8 servings.
