Dena'ina native Ashley Krawl, right, a youth intern at the K'Beq Interpretive Site near Cooper Landing, describes traditional plant use to visiting members of the Akita delegation from Japan, including Yaushi Shinde, left, Akita city event planner.

Another youth intern, Eskimo native Stephanie Kowchee, center, and intern Ben Elachik, Yupik and Meskwaki, not pictured, helped the Japanese visitors understand native traditions and culture during a half-hour walk Saturday through the Kenaitze Indian archeological site, once a fishing camp along the Kenai River.
