District attorney takes job with attorney general

FAIRBANKS (AP) Fairbanks District Attorney Teresa Foster has accepted a position as an assistant attorney general with the statewide Office of Special Prosecutions.

Foster will rewrite policy on sexual assault and sexual abuse of minors.

Foster was appointed as district attorney in Fairbanks by former Gov. Tony Knowles in 2002 to replace Harry Davis, who had been district attorney for 26 years.

Jeff O'Bryant, who has worked as an assistant district attorney in Fairbanks for 18 years, will replace Foster starting Monday.
