ANCHORAGE (AP) The U.S. Forest Service has extended the public comment periods on proposals to exclude Alaska's Tongass and Chugach national forests from a national policy called the roadless rule.
The comment periods were set to expire on Aug. 14.
The agency will accept comments until Sept. 2.
The Bush administration wants to exempt the two national forests from the logging and road building ban developed under former President Bill Clinton.
