History: Redoubt Elementary School was built in 1978 and serves about 410 students in kindergarten through sixth grade.

Demographics: The student population of Redoubt is 86 percent Caucasian, 2 percent Hispanic, 1 percent Asian-Pacific Islander, 4 percent American Indian and 6 percent Alaska Native. About 16 percent of the students experience disabilities, and 41 percent come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Staffing: Redoubt has a full-time administrator, 16.5 regular-instruction teaching positions, 1.5 specialist positions, three special education teachers and 2.26 special education aide positions. There also is a part-time nurse, 1.5 secretary positions and three custodians. Teachers at the school have a combined average of more than 10 years experience with the district.
AYP: Redoubt Elementary made adequate yearly progress in 2002-03 with 90 percent of students scoring "proficient" in language arts and 82 percent passing math. In 2003-04, Redoubt met AYP with 88 percent of students passing language arts and 80 percent passing math.
Cocurricular: Redoubt students may participate in intramural sports and several academic competitions.
Registration: Students registered from 9 a.m. to noon and 1 to 3 p.m. Aug. 11 and 12.
Transportation: Bus routes 38, 39 and 40 serve Redoubt Elementary School.
School hours: 8:50 a.m. to 3:15 p.m.
