History: Located in downtown Soldotna, SoHi was built in 1980 and serves a little more than 500 students in grades nine through 12.

Demographics: SoHi's student population is 88 percent Caucasian, 1 percent African-American, 2 percent Hispanic, 2 percent Asian-Pacific Islander, 2 percent American Indian and 5 percent Alaska Native.
About 7 percent of students experience disabilities, and 20 percent come from economically disadvantaged homes.
Staffing: SoHi has a full-time principal, assistant principal and athletic director, 22.3 regular-education teaching positions, three specialist positions, five special-education teachers, 5.72 special-education aide positions and one regular-education aide. There also is a part-time nurse, 3.5 secretary positions and 5.5 custodian positions.
Teachers at the school have a combined average of about 11 years experience with the district.
AYP: Though test scores were among the highest in the district (86 percent of students passed language arts and 82 percent were proficient in math), SoHi did not make adequate yearly progress in 2002-03 because of low participation scores among students identified as "economically disadvantaged."
In 2003-04, Soldotna High School continued its high proficiency scores (56 percent in language arts and 81 percent in math) and corrected participation problems, meeting AYP.
Cocurricular: Soldotna High School students may participate in cross country running, boys and girls soccer, swimming and diving, football, boys and girls basketball, wrestling, volleyball, hockey, Nordic skiing, track and field and cheerleading, as well as band, chorus, drama, dance, yearbook and clubs.
Registration: Students may register between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. Aug. 16 and 17.
Transportation: Bus routes 9, 11, 13, 31, 38 and 48 serve Soldotna High School.
School hours: 7:50 a.m. to 2:25 p.m.
